Pensive is an interactive installation inspired by the toilet scene from the classic film Trainspotting. It collects my memories with my friends during my stay in New York City. The images only appear when the viewers are close to the toilet bowl, and they’ll be looking back on my memories streaming in front of them.

I  experiment the conjunction between readymades and my personal story. The process of taking old object and giving it new life to my memories is the way I encounter and cure my nostalgia.

The Making of Pensieve

I hide the sensor in the toilet bowl to detect if people is close enough to trigger the video projection. For the best practice of the projection, I add milk inside instead of pure water to make it denser and white.
